Prince Edward Island (PEI) Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

The island is named for Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn (1767–1820), the fourth son of King George III and the father of Queen Victoria. Prince Edward has been called "Father of the Canadian Crown." It is one of the three Maritime Provinces and is the smallest province in both land area and population. It is the only province of Canada to have no land boundary.

Prince Edward Island Nominee Program is designed to attract foreign national with the skills and experience targeted by the province to apply for Canadian permanent residence

The PEI PNP accepts applications under three major immigration categories:

  • PEI PNP Express Entry
  • Labour Impact Category
  • Business Impact Category

PEI PNP Express Entry

Candidates with skills matching current identified labour need for the province can apply to the PEI PNP Express Entry Stream however, they must be eligible to enter the Express Entry pool and have desire to live and work in Prince Edward Island. The PEI PNP does not guarantee that all Express Entry profiles submitted will be reviewed or accepted.

Labour Impact Category

Applicants who have skills and experience needed by the province can apply under this program. This category is divided in to below sub-categories:

  1. Skilled Worker Stream

    Under this sub- category, skilled applicants must be hired or identified by PEI employer. Eligible applicants will work in a skilled profession and possess relevant experience and at least a post-secondary degree or diploma

  2. Critical Worker Stream

    Under this sub-category, workers must already been hired by a PEI employer, and their employer would like to sponsor them for permanent residency. Eligible applicants can work in a semi-skilled or unskilled profession.

  3. International Graduate Stream

    Under this sub category, recent graduates from recognized accredited Prince Edward Island universities and colleges who have already been hired by a PEI employer. Eligible applicants will work in a skilled profession in their field of study.

    1. Business Impact Category

      This category is for the individuals who wish to invest in and actively manage a PEI business. This category is divided into below sub-categories:

      • 100% Ownership Stream

        Under this sub-category, applicant must be willing to and able to assume full ownership their PEI business, either through the start of a new business or the purchase of an existing business in the province.

      • Partial Ownership Stream

        Under this sub-category, applicant must obtain at least 33.33 percent (one-third) of a PEI business, or invest $1,000,000 CAD in the equity of a business.

      • Work Permit Stream

        Under this sub-category, applicant must be willing to invest in a PEI business to transition to PEI on a work permit prior to receiving provincial nomination. During their time on a work permit applicants are expected to begin working in Canada and to learn about the business in which he or she will be investing.
